As we wrap up Tech Month in Minnesota, SciTech and the Minnesota Technology Association were pleased to present a special virtual event: Career Pathways for Women in Tech. Last Thursday, we welcomed members from our community to hear the inspiring stories of three women leading in technology, Ayaan Dahir from Software for Good, Elizabeth Chapman from Art Unlimited and Maria Burns Ortiz from 7 Generation Games.
Hosted by SciTech’s Student Outreach Coordinator Molly Mitchell, this live webinar was a unique opportunity to hear from Dahir, Chapman and Oritz about what inspired them to pursue careers in technology, what challenges they encountered while working in predominantly-male industries, what tools they developed to navigate these environments and what advice they have for women entering the workforce today.
